Terms of Use

Last updated: March 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using refutor (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use refutor. These terms apply to all users, including those who access refutor without an account (for example, as the second participant in a Mediator session).

2. The Service

refutor is an AI-powered argument companion that provides debate coaching, mediation, and personal argument profile features. The AI responses generated by refutor are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute legal, therapeutic, or professional advice of any kind.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use refutor. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Providing accurate information when registering
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use refutor to:

  • Submit content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, or discriminatory
  • Attempt to manipulate, deceive, or abuse the AI systems
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or reproduce any part of the Service
  • Use refutor for commercial purposes without our prior written consent
  • Impersonate another person in a Mediator session
  • Submit false or misleading information about real-world disputes

6. AI-Generated Content

Responses from refutor are generated by artificial intelligence and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. refutor's feedback is intended to help you practise and improve argumentation skills — not to serve as a definitive assessment of any real-world dispute or legal matter. You should not rely on refutor's verdicts as binding arbitration.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding within refutor — including the name, logo, and interface — is owned by refutor and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the content you submit (your arguments, topics, and debate text). By submitting content, you grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of providing the Service.

8. Mediator Sessions

Both participants in a Mediator session must consent to using the Service. By joining a Mediator session, each participant acknowledges that their submission will be read by refutor's AI system and that a shared verdict will be delivered to both parties. refutor does not guarantee that either party will accept or act on the verdict.

9. Disclaimers

refutor is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI responses will always be accurate. Your use of refutor is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, refutor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including any decisions made based on AI-generated feedback or verdicts.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to refutor at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use of refutor after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Madrid, Spain.
