Refutor (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use Refutor, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. By using Refutor you agree to the practices described here. Refutor is intended for users aged 16 and older, consistent with our Terms of Use. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such data, contact us and we will delete it.
We collect the following categories of personal data when you use Refutor:

Debate content you submit — including text and, where a feature uses voice (Counter, live captions, Record uploads, and related transcription) audio / voice recordings — is processed by a third-party AI provider acting as a sub-processor (see Section 8). We do not share your name, email, or account details with AI providers for those requests. Content is transmitted securely and is not used to train third-party models under our agreements. We never display AI provider or model names in the Refutor product interface.
Scores, patterns, and feedback are derived from argument content (what you say or write), not from voice emotion detection or biometric identification.
A two-person Mediator session (Jury) is a live, turn-based debate. Both participants need a Refutor account and join the session with an invite code (or use same-device table mode). Participants take turns making their case and can see each other's contributions as the session progresses — submissions are not hidden from the other party until the verdict. Once the debate ends, Refutor analyses both sides and delivers a shared AI-generated verdict to both participants. We store the session content (transcripts, scores, and verdict) as part of each participant's session history.
We retain your account and session data for as long as your account is active. You may schedule account deletion from your profile settings; after a 30-day retention window, associated data is permanently removed (you can cancel by signing back in during that window). Anonymised, aggregate analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Billing records may be kept longer where required for tax or accounting.

When Refutor is used through a school, university, company, or team organization, organization managers and admins may see limited engagement metrics (for example display name, role, group, practice ELO, session counts, and last-active dates). They cannot read your debate transcripts, coaching history, or personal account settings. ELO and “needs attention” indicators reflect practice engagement, not formal grades or performance reviews.
Refutor is a practice and coaching tool only. It must not be used as the sole or formal basis for grading students, making hiring or promotion decisions, ranking competence for employment or academic credit, or other high-stakes assessment. Institutional users must be at least 16. See also our Terms of Use.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Refutor after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
